    As soon as I saw that this was translated by Abdul Hakim Murad, I knew it was going to be well written and insightful Although the content itself is very basic for anyone who has any familiarity with the teachings of Islam, Du Pasquier presents and contextualizes the information in a unique way Many times throughout the book I was reminded of Muhammad Asad s writings Like Asad, the author was a European journalist who converted to Islam and used his conviction to critique western modern socie As soon as I saw that this was translated by Abdul Hakim Murad, I knew it was going to be well written and insightful Although the content itself is very basic for anyone who has any familiarity with the teachings of Islam, Du Pasquier presents and contextualizes the information in a unique way Many times throughout the book I was reminded of Muhammad Asad s writings Like Asad, the author was a European journalist who converted to Islam and used his conviction to critique western modern society I was also struck at how well the book was translated from the original French Translation or not, it was beautifully written The source materials sections at the end of every chapter were one my favorite parts of the book as they provided lots of ideas for future reading I would highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to learn about Islam and Muslims, regardless of their knowledge level

    If you have basic knowledge of Islam, this is really not the book for you.Also, there are better books out there that are similar facts about Islam presented through a romanticized lens.
